Overview:


• Key social legislation and relevance to the youths in Singapore

• Rights and responsibilities of practitioners, youths and legal guardian

• Ethical issues and its controversies in working with youths

Target Participants:

Junior executives who are currently in various youth and/ or social service agencies working with children and youth. This category of participants should have at least 3 months of relevant working experience in children and/ or youth work. The course is appropriate for programme coordinators, case workers, youth workers or programme executives.

Learning Outcome:

Upon completion of the course, learners will be able to:
• Explain the legal and ethical boundaries when working with youths

• Apply relevant Acts in working with youths

Remarks:

This course includes assessment components.

Assessment is conducted on Day 3 and learners will be informed at a later date about their assessment time slot.

As there is an assessment component for this course, grading and processing of results can only take place after course completion.

Learners who pass the assessment(s) will be awarded with an electronic Statement of Attainment (SOA) from WDA.

Trainer Profile:

Mr Ben Peh is a veteran social worker for 14 years and gained invaluable insight into human needs and strengths. Ben has helped numerous clients to resolve both internal and external issues which affected their relationships and life and bring out the best in them. He has extensive knowledge in cognitive-behavioural therapy, solution focused brief therapy, strengths theory, hypnosis and child development theories. He uses these expansive knowledge and skill in training, coaching and therapy.
