Leadership responsibilities include meeting team members and organisational needs. Leaders are required to get a group of people committed to work together to achieve organisational outcomes. The course provides learners with knowledge and skills about effective leadership and team-building based on principles, concepts, application cases, exercises, and self-assessments that are designed to develop competencies around leadership and teamwork. Learners will also learn the tools and techniques that are linked to each of the leadership and teambuilding models.
Target audience includes all professionals who are team leaders, programme leaders, managers, supervisors or anyone who manages a team.
Learners are assumed to possess an English Language (speaking, reading, writing and listening) proficiency level equivalent to GCE ‘O’ level or Employability Skills System Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 6.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
1. Adopt different leadership approaches for different work styles
2. Apply team development strategies in the non-profit setting
3. Apply conflict management strategies for resolving team conflicts
This course includes assessment components.
Assessment may be conducted during and/or after the course. As there is an assessment component for this course, grading and processing of results can only take place after course completion. Learners who pass the assessment(s) will be awarded with an electronic Certificate of Achievement from SSI. You will receive an email notification when your e-Cert is ready for download in your NCSS e-Services account.

Please note that this course will be conducted online via Zoom (click to learn more about Zoom). Successful applicants will be able to access and download course materials from LearningCloud upon course confirmation. They will also be given the URL to join the Zoom course session with a unique password via email. Participants will be required to use their Name (as per NRIC) as the Zoom ID to be given access to the Zoom course session and will have to enable video view while the session is in progress.
Assessment will be scheduled after COVID-19 Circuit Breaker ends and face-to-face assessment at SSI resumes. Successful applicants are required to sit for the assessment on a separate day, to be further advised by SSI.

Dr. Christopher Fong (Chris) brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from a concert hall to the corporate boardroom. One of Singapore’s thought leader in people innovation and creativity. He currently coach and mentor business leaders on leadership, talent strategy and development. Having leaded a 120 member symphony orchestra, Christopher went on to consult with the Singapore Government both in the Education and Manpower ministries. Prior to this, he was a clinical psychologist specialising in personality profiling and multicultural research in the health and pharmaceutical industries.
Christopher has held several senior consultant portfolios for over 20 years, assisting organisations in product development, design and delivery of learning and development, organisational development and change, executive coaching and personality profiling solutions. He has conducted training, seminars/workshops for senior executives and delivered lectures in Organizational Psychology, Managing Diversity and Multicultural issues, Talent Management and Global Leadership at postgraduate MBA and executive education. In 2010, the Singapore Government appointed him as Lead Consultant and Researcher for the nation-wide survey on understanding “Fathers at the workplace”. Subsequently, as a domain expert in cross culture and diversity issues, Christopher was appointed Author by the Singapore Ministry of Manpower to develop part of the national competency framework and curriculum for human capital training.
