This e-learning course provides a basic understanding of family violence (FV) including the different types and forms of abuse and neglect. Participants will also learn about the impact of family violence on parties involved, common victim responses and, the systems and legislations in Singapore for family protection work. Through an understanding of FV, this course aims to equip community touch points and the general public in the early detection of FV cases for appropriate response.
By the end of the course, learners will be able to: 1. Explain what constitutes family violence (FV) 2. Identify the different types and forms of FV 3. Explain the impact of FV on parties involved 4. Describe common victim responses and 5. Identify the available systems and legislations I in Singapore for family protection work
Target audience includes professionals from health, education, social service and law enforcement sectors who interact with children and young persons on a regular basis. Note: This e-learning module aims to sensitise participants on the issues of Family Violence. It will not be considered for exemption from the course “Management of Family Violence (MFV): Introduction”. Social Workers, Counsellors and Social Service Practitioners conducting the mandatory counselling programme should enrol in the “MFV: Introduction” which is a pre-requisite requirement to “MFV: Intervention in Family Violence Cases” and other courses offered by Social Service Institute.
Course is offered free-of-charge to the target audience.
