Established in 1955, the Singapore Association for the Deaf (SADeaf) has been serving the Deaf and Hard-of-hearing community for the past six decades. SADeaf is a member of the National Council of Social Service (NCSS), and is supported by Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) and Ministry of Education (MOE).


The association is also affiliated, internationally, to the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) and, locally, to the Children Charities’ Association (CCA).

About The Role

The Singapore Association for the Deaf has served the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community since 1995. We aim to serve and assist the Deaf and Hard-of-hearing community in all aspects of life, raise awareness and offer accessibility services. We are looking for passionate individuals to join us as a Social Worker. If you have a passion for Social Work and want to help the marginalized community, this job is for you.

You will be joining a dynamic team in Community Services working closely with the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community which comprises clients of all ages. You must also be open and willing to work outside of typical office hours, such as on weekends and public holidays as necessary.

Responsibilities:
● Provide casework management and counselling service for clients
● Provide information and referral service for clients
● Provide social and financial assessment and assistance to clients
● Maintain proper and consistent case documentation
● To take charge and spearhead projects that benefits Clients and the Deaf community at large
● Plan and organise programmes to meet clients’ needs
● Perform other duties as assigned


Candidate Requirements
Technical Competencies:

● Enjoys working in a vibrant and fast-paced environment
● Excellent time and task management skills
● Able to prioritise tasks under tight deadlines

Core Competencies:

● Required to learn Sign Language
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills
● Ability to keep calm in pressure and crisis situations
● Excellent time and task management skills

Preferred achievements / characteristics:

● Enjoys working in a vibrant and fast-paced environment
● Team player with an ability to function effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
● Experience working with the elderly will be an added advantage
● Degree in Social Work with at least 2 years of experience
