Chaoyang School is a special education school catering to students with mild intellectual disability (MID), ranging from 7 to 12 years old. Like other special education schools, the school offers customised educational programmes to develop students’ potentials and to help them be independent, self-reliant and contributing members of the society. The students also receive support from allied health care professionals for their differentiated learning needs and learning preferences. Chaoyang School has its team of support services called the Allied Professionals (AP) which includes psychologists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and social workers. The main role of the APs is to support the students’ learning needs by collaborating closely with the teachers for the facilitation of the students’ holistic development.

About The Role

• Assist and assess clients' behaviour and needs via observation, interviews and informal tests.
• Assist, administer and monitor appropriate treatment strategies and/or therapy modalities, with support from Senior Psychologist.
• Assist, plan and deliver individual or group interventions in collaboration with Senior Psychologist.
• Work with other allied health professionals and direct service staff to provide multi-disciplinary support to the clients so as to maximize their capabilities.
• Work with direct service staff (teachers), caregivers and families to implement intervention strategies and programmes, and to provide consultations to them, as necessary.
• Maintain updated client records of interventions and reports.
• Assist and conduct relevant discipline-related training to direct care staff, caregivers and families, and volunteers.
• Participate and contribute in APSN/CYS initiated special projects such as public education, conferences, applied research, deputyship applications, etc.

On-site structured job training will be provided by Senior Psychologist


Candidate Requirements
Technical Competencies:

Strong academic background , who is ready to pursue Applied Master’s programme in near future.

Core Competencies:

• Good communication, team work, and interpersonal skills.
• Passionate for working with persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities ( Paediatric population)

Preferred achievements / characteristics:

• Degree in Psychology from an institution recognised in Singapore.
• Fresh graduates are welcome to apply
