MINDS has been serving persons with intellectual disabilities (PWIDs) across their entire lifespan in the past 59 years. Helping and enhancing the quality of life of 3,000 PWIDs annually, MINDS’ also focuses on care and support of families and caregivers. Today, an 850-strong workforce, with the assistance of volunteers, runs over 30 facilities, services and programmes island-wide.

MINDS has 4 Special Education Schools, 3 Employment Development Centres, 8 Training and Development Centres, a Residential Home for Adults, a Children’s Home, a Hostel, a Caregivers Support Services Centre, a Special Student Care Centre, and a Developmental Disabilities Medical Clinic, as well as numerous other significant services such as Appropriate Adults for Persons with Mental Disabilities (AAPMD), Allied Health Professionals (AHP), Me Too! Club (MTC) and MINDS MYG (a volunteer subsidiary wing of MINDS).
These efforts are supported by MINDS Institute which specialises in the research and development of holistic and sustainable approaches to nurturing and developing PWIDs.

About The Role

The Job Coach is responsible for providing job matching, job coaching and job support services for students in job attachments and job placements. As part of a collaborative and interdisciplinary team which include teachers and Allied Health Professionals such as the Psychologist and Occupational Therapist, they provide career counselling and behavioural and work performance interventions in assisting students to sustain their attachments and employment leading towards post school placements.

The Job Coach has to work closely with their students caregivers and teachers and existing potential employers as well as partners and stakeholders such as training providers, community case and social workers, training officers and other job coaches in jointly providing authentic and holistic job experiences and support for the students.

The Job Coach will support the schools events and programmes in providing the students with holistic learning experiences.

The Job Coach should have great communication, time management and problem-solving skills. He or She should be able to work well both independently and in a team with integrity, sensitivity, knowledge and to drive and advocate for their students with intellectual disability.

Candidate Requirements
Technical Competencies:

• Diploma or Degree in any discipline with at least 2 years working experience.

Core Competencies:

• A strong team-player with excellent people skills. A self-motivated and independent individual.
• Willing to think out of the box when working with people with intellectual disabilities.
