Through our Community & Youth Services (CYS) Division, and management of the Singapore Boys’ Hostel (SBHL) and the Community Rehabilitation Centre (CRC), Trybe provides youth with guidance and offer support for their families and communities by engaging them in our services spanning across developmental, prevention, intervention and rehabilitation work.

About The Role

Youth Worker will report to Department Head under Programmes & Rehabilitation Department. He will be working with male juvenile offenders, between the age of 12 to 21, in an institutional facility, which focus on community rehabilitation.

List of responsibilities, but not limited to:

• Oversee the residents on a daily basis; manage the welfare, discipline and standards required in the Rehab institution;
• Identify and deploy effective strategies for management of group dynamics
• Plan, develop and evaluate the daily programmes for the residents;
• Assist to engage and liaise with external stakeholders (such as volunteer groups) to conduct programmes for the residents;
• Able to build effective relationship (as mentor figures) with these residents and be role models for the residents;
• Assist Unit Head and Department Head for other functions etc
• Implement appropriate assessment tools to develop and evaluate group work outcomes
• Conduct risk assessment and develop strategies for risk management
• Facilitate, evaluate and review group therapy/therapeutic group work sessions to ensure relevance and effectiveness for the population of residents
• Develop and facilitate group work sessions for certain population, such as high-risk, special needs, according to the responsivity factor.

Technical Competencies:

• Ability to interact positively with male juvenile offenders individually and in group setting;
• Ability to enforce discipline standards in a fair and respectful manner;
• Ability to plan and coordinate daily programmes;
• Possess good engagement and facilitation skills

Preferred achievements / characteristics:

• Diploma or Degree in Social Sciences with prior experience working with youth-at-risk ;
• Possess good knowledge and experiences with social work interventions, social policies and community engagement
• Possess strong communication and writing skills.
