Metta Hospice Care is a member of Singapore Hospice Council and Asia Pacific Hospice Network. Set up in June 2000 to offer free home hospice care to the terminally ill of all ages and races, we have since helped more than 5000 patients to live with quality and dignity throughout the last phase of their lives at the comfort of their homes.

We primarily take care of patients who are referred from medical institutions and general practitioners. They are diagnosed with life-limiting illnesses such as cancer and end stage renal failure and usually have a prognosis of less than a year.

We provide a holistic care approach with medical consultations and nursing assessments to our care recipients, as well as psychosocial support to them and their families. Our Social Worker will also support our care recipients and their families on the emotional and social aspects if required.

About The Role

• Maintains and comply with nursing guidelines by updating policies and procedures
• Maintains nursing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures
• Assures quality of care by developing and interpreting the various medical programmes standards of care; enforcing adherence to SNB requirements and to other governing agency regulations; measuring clients outcomes against standards; making or recommending adjustments, where necessary
• Maintains nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training nurses and staffs
• Completes clients care requirements by working with the clinical staffs on scheduling and assigning nursing and staff; following up on work results
• Working with Resident Doctor and maintain nursing staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
• Resolves clients’ needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by designing and implementing procedures, rules, and regulations
• Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by monitoring confidential information processing
• Achieves financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions

Candidate Requirements
Technical Competencies:

• Maintains nursing supplies inventory by studying usage reports; identifying trends; anticipating needed supplies; approving requisitions and cost allocations
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; establishing personal networks;

Core Competencies:

• Having the passion to lead, guide nursing staffs in providing quality nursing care
• Ability to work both independently and within a multi-disciplinary team
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Hardworking, meticulous and responsible

Preferred achievements / characteristics:

• Minimum 5-10 years of related experience
• Minimum ‘Diploma or Degree in Nursing or equivalent
• Must be a Registered Nurse with SNB
