Metta PreSchool @ Punggol

Metta PreSchool @Punggol (慈光幼儿园) has been in operation for over 8 years since its official opening on 31 July 2010. The centre receives cases from SG Enable through referrals from hospitals. Enrolment will take place after the initial screening process is complete. Our centre provides Early Intervention Programme for Infants & Children (EIPIC), aged between 2.5 to 6 years old with special needs, ranging from Autism spectrum Disorder, Global Development Delay to Speech and Language Delay.

The children attend a 3-hour session programme twice a week. The multi-disciplinary team consists of teachers, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists. They come together to discuss and set specific and measurable 1-year goals for the Individualised Education Plan (IEP) of each child. The IEP focuses on 6 domains: fine motor, gross motor, adaptive, cognitive, social communication and social skills.

About The Role

1. Main Responsibilities
• Assist in the smooth running of daily operations
• Supervise and provide guidance and feedback to junior teachers
• Provide and maintains a safe, healthy and conducive environment for children and upkeep of classroom
• Plan and implement curriculum and activities
• Assess the progress of learning and teaching programmes of the preschool
• Placement of new student admission
• Conducting orientation programme for newly registered parents and children
• Networking and relationship building with parents/guardian
• Coordinate and facilitate Parent-Teacher Conference
• Organize social activities/outing for students
• Plan and implement On-The-Job training for new staff
• Covering duties in the centres when shortage of Teachers
• Attending to parents’ enquiries

2. Admin Responsibilities
• Comply to NCSS / MSF requirements: SSR, PES, QA & EPES
• Complying with ISO requirement
• Checking on Muster Report
• Upkeep of teaching resources and record
• Checking of IEP and Progress Reports for Teachers
• Preparing and submitting reports and take minutes
• Maintaining and updating of children’s particular
• Implementation of IEP and Progress Report

3. Other Responsibilities
• Coordinate staff working schedule especially during shortage of staff
• Attend Management Committee Meeting
• Perform any other duties as required and/or assigned by the Assistant Manager, Manager or Management

Candidate Requirements
Technical Competencies:

• Interest to work with children with autism needs

Core Competencies:

•Ability to work both independently and within a multi-disciplinary team
•Hardworking, meticulous and responsible
•Relevant work experience in the preschool setting/special needs sector would be an advantage

Preferred achievements / characteristics:

• Minimum 3- 5 years of related experience having worked closely children and their parents
•Minimum Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education or equivalent
